Who Are We
We are three sisters from Ghana. We came to Canada at fairly young ages. Having been brought up in two very different societies, we understood the importance of community, and how sports can be a means to break social barriers.

Our grandmother was an inspiration and after her passing, it was only right to honor her life and the legacy she left behind. Growing up we were surrounded by influential people who inspired us and empowered us. So we named this community initiative Okyere Adarkwa Kwakye Family Legacy Foundation, because it incorporates, the surnames of our family, as we build a legacy in breaking social barriers for athletes and youth around the world.
Our Mission
Our mission at Okyere Adarkwa Kwakye Family Legacy Foundation is to present athletes and youth with opportunities to succeed and grow in all aspects of their life. We believe that building strong connections and trust is important. We know youth are capable of amazing things and creating the right spaces helps youth be their best selves. Youth are the future and it’s vital to support their needs to grow and become leaders.
In November of 2022, we went to Ghana, and during our time there, we put together a tournament for high school basketball teams in the Kumasi Region. Seeing the impact we made in the community, and the lives of the youth, confirmed that it was just the beginning of our journey, to using sports as a means to create spaces for Youth to develop and become future leaders everywhere they go.
